The day started off with a surprise for our employees. They arrived to find a "Black Friday" kind of crowd waiting for the store to open. Our customers enjoyed sale items in each department. Sale items were 50 cents to celebrate our 50-year anniversary. Most of the morning employees jumped on registers to manage the crowd of customers.

Then owner Rick Young arrived at the store for his big surprise. There was a big anniversary banner hung above the front doors. Most of his employees assembled to greet him. They dressed alike in special anniversary t-shirts to surprise him.

The party continued into the afternoon. There was juice and cupcakes for our customers. The Elk Rapids Chamber of Commerce showed appreciation with a beautiful plaque they presented. Friends and family and friends gathered throughout the afternoon to celebrate and congratulate Rick.
